What your sponsorship does
Unfortunately, far too many children never receive the explicit, systematic reading instruction they need. At Black Children Reading Academy, we're changing that—one child at a time.
For just $80 per month, you can sponsor one child's reading journey from wherever they begin in our Foundations Program until they become a confident reader. Prefer to share the commitment? Become a Co-Sponsor for $40 per month, and together with another sponsor, you'll provide one child's monthly tuition.
When you become a sponsor, you aren't simply making a donation.
You are investing in a child's future.
How long does a sponsorship last?
It depends on where the child starts. A reader beginning near lesson one has the full sequence ahead — roughly two and a half years at a lesson a week. A child joining partway through may finish in a year or less. When you sponsor, you're committing to one child's journey to completion, whatever the remaining distance is for them. We'll always be clear about where your reader is and how far they have to go.

We pair your monthly support with a child and let you know where they are in the 128-lesson journey.
Stay the course
Your support continues until that child completes their foundational lessons — the whole reason it works.
What might a sponsorship cost?
Every reader is different, but here's a rough guide. It's based on a child moving through the Foundations Program at about one lesson per week, starting from where their grade level typically begins.

These are estimates only. A child's actual starting point is set by a placement assessment, not their grade, and pace can vary. We'll always tell you where your reader is and roughly how far they have to go.
